When it comes to honeymoons, the romantic cast-away island life is always the first to be visualised. Of course, you never want the honeymoon to turn into its own version of Cast Away. So to help you out, we’ve handpicked our favourite honeymoon island getaways, that aren’t too far away, but just secluded enough for you to be able to spend some devoted time with your new wedded Wilson.

A renown destination of luxury since the 1950s, Hayman Island is a private island nestled amongst the centre of Great Barrier Reef and is the closest island to the iconic heart shaped reef. With exclusive packages that include sunset escapades, dining under the stars and romance treatments at the One & Only spa - this island will wash the built-up stress of wedding planning away and have you feeling relaxed and romantic by just looking at it.

Bedarra Island - Queensland

If you’re after your own secluded slice of paradise then this island is the honeymoon ultimate, accepting a maximum of 8 couples at any one time. Strewn into the Great Barrier Reef archipelago, the island has one hundred and twelve acres of tropical rainforest to get lost in, making the chances of encountering another couple slim. Honeymooners receive chocolates and champagne upon arrival, gourmet picnic hampers and romantic private beach dining. Everything you could want from kayaking, fishing, snorkelling and tennis gear is supplied and inclusive. It’s also one of the very few islands that can be booked for complete exclusive use, and really, who doesn’t want a whole island to themselves?

Satellite Island - Tasmania

If you’re into the private island idea, and let’s be honest, who isn’t? Then Satellite Island, situated just 5 minutes off Peppermint Bay, Tasmania, could appeal to you. Although not known for its warm weather, this little island offers the perfect sanctuary for cozy cuddle ups and good food. With a boutique salmon farm that can be spotted in the waters from the island, oysters that can be shucked freshly off rocks and Tasmania’s well known wine, your palate won’t be lacking. This little whale shaped island boasts scenic walks through the Tasmanian wilderness to whimsically named places like ‘Last Glimpse Point,’ and ‘Sunset Bay,’ which by the pictures look like they won’t disappoint.

Lord Howe Island - New South Wales

It is world heritage listed for a reason, with distinctive landscape that cuts away to reveal beautiful beaches and reaching rock pyramids. Stunning views, luxurious accommodation and first class service make this island world-class.
