So what’s it like to be a wedding styler?

Being a wedding stylist is a very creative job - you learn so much about the couple through the decor they choose and the styling they opt for. A lot of the time, I find the styling perfectly matches the couple and that’s exactly the way it should be! Hiring a stylist is about bringing that personal touch to your wedding so guests feel your influence in...

What was it like to photograph your first wedding?

It was hectic. I was so nervous. It was all shot on film back then and I hate to say it, but I had no back up equipment……what was I thinking?

How long have you been taking photos for?

I’ve been taking photos for over 15 years and professionally for 5.

Can you tell us one of the most memorable moments you’ve had while photographing a wedding?

Most memorable would be a 4 day Indian wedding! 4 venues. 4 dresses. I got to experience a new and exciting culture. It was amazing. The food, the people! It was...

5 Tips for Wedding Flowers with expert Deanna Byrne

We were fortunate enough to have a chat to the very busy Deanna from Distinctive Blooms who is a boutique and sought after florist based in SE QLD. Let’s talk the wedding favourite - bouquets. Personally, what do you think is the most beautiful flower to compliment a white wedding?

Oh, so many options!

When you say “White Wedding” I immediately think of a very formal, and classical style -Sophia Loren, or Audrey Hepburn-esque - Classy, Elegant and the epitome of Style.

If I had to narrow it down to one particular flower, I don’t think you can go past the classic white rose - speak to your florist as they can guide you on the best type of rose to choose, based on the time of year you are getting married.

The worst wedding ever?

We had a chat to a wedding Celebrant and asked her to tell us about the strangest wedding she had ever officiated, and her story did not disappoint. Read it below:

Bride-and-groom-statuette-001.jpg

“One of the most unusual weddings would be when a client fell in love with a call girl. At the initial interview they answered my question, ‘how did you meet?’ by telling me that she was, in fact, a lady of the night. I could tell that they wanted to shock me, but I kept a straight face and continued on. I asked them when they wanted to get married and they said next week. Of course legally they had to wait one month from the day they filled out the Notice of Intended Marriage. And so they went with exactly one month.

They then wanted the ceremony to be held at sunrise and in my front yard! I agreed but had to warn them about their drinking as they were definitely both under the influence every time I met with them or...

Lisa & Frank talk weddings, structure and sleepovers

Lisa & Frank recently tied the knot in the very trendy and futuristic city of Rotterdam. It was quirky, fun, and a celebration of love not quite the norm of your standard wedding. We had a chat to Lisa about her wedding to see what little insights we could steal and what made their day unique to them.

Would you consider your wedding to be traditional?

I think that depends on what is traditional in your eyes — but in all, probably not.

Tell us about the structure of your wedding?

We started our wedding day in the morning at 9 am with a huge party, breakfast, music and a lot of alcohol, which was so incredibly fun. At 1pm we went for lunch (drunk a lot of alcohol again) and did wedding pictures with all the guests in funny costumes. In the evening at about 5pm we had a walking dinner (a stand around buffet) and at 8pm did the official ceremony. By the time we did the vows...

The Boom in Australian Weddings

There’s been a large spike in the number of Chinese couples having their weddings in Australia, and you know what, we think they’re onto something. Need to be convinced? Here are our top 4 bargaining chips on why to consider it:

1. Who doesn’t want an extra holiday?

2-wedding-photographer-perth-beach-ceremony-seating-white-chairs.jpg

You’re already going to all the effort in arranging and organising the momentous love-locked day, so why not just go the extra step and make it even more unforgettable? Trust us, by the time your wedding day rolls around you’re going to wish you have more than just one holiday lined up.

2. You don’t need a marriage licence to get married in Australia

made for this 2.jpg

That’s right, getting married in Australia is a fairly short and sweet legal process. As long as you’re both over the age of 18, are not already legally married and have lodged a notice of intended marriage a month prior then you are ready to say your ‘I do’s.’

3 Reasons why the wedding venue is first

by Mollie O'Sullivan

When it comes to the organisation of your perfect day there can be a lot of concealed expectations when the frustration of what is feasible comes to light. These expectations are generally weaved up in the young and romantic stages of our lives and unceremoniously destroyed as people start to tell you what can and can’t be done, ruining what in your mind you had dreamed and deemed the only possible way this day was going to play out.

Alleviating these frustrations can be as simple as choosing your wedding venue first and here’s why:

014.jpg

1. The Date

Getting the date you want all relies on your venue.

The date you get married on is incredibly significant, not only does it represent the day that you will fondly remember and lovingly celebrate each year with your loved one, but choosing a date also means choosing a day. Maybe you’re the type that is happy to have a...
