The worst wedding ever?

We had a chat to a wedding Celebrant and asked her to tell us about the strangest wedding she had ever officiated, and her story did not disappoint. Read it below:

“One of the most unusual weddings would be when a client fell in love with a call girl. At the initial interview they answered my question, ‘how did you meet?’ by telling me that she was, in fact, a lady of the night. I could tell that they wanted to shock me, but I kept a straight face and continued on. I asked them when they wanted to get married and they said next week. Of course legally they had to wait one month from the day they filled out the Notice of Intended Marriage. And so they went with exactly one month.

They then wanted the ceremony to be held at sunrise and in my front yard! I agreed but had to warn them about their drinking as they were definitely both under the influence every time I met with them or spoke on the phone.

Sadly at the end of the ceremony and after the Marriage Certificate and Register had been signed and witnessed, the bride wanted to know if she could change her mind. Too late, and the marriage didn’t last more than a week.

I wouldn’t say the odd weddings come along regularly, although when I chat to my colleagues they all have their fair share of unusual stories.”
